The Third Pyramid - Mask Temple

A Mesoamerican pyramid is actually several pyramids, one covering the others. A new ruler wanted to exceed the previous one and one way to do it was to built a new pyramid covering the old one. Although archaeologists explore pyramids in all layers, it is very uncommon to physically expose the inner layers. Mask Temple in Lamanai is a rare exemption and our guide is showing us how to tell different layers of the pyramid. (More in the Slovak version).
